Rainbows, Butterflies and Running

Morning ladies! Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday, Mondays are always crazy here. I had a great weekend with family and friends and spent all of Saturday doing makeup for a Mardi Gras ball. Have I mentioned how much I love Mardi Gras?

Things are going wonderfully around here. I finally feel like things are falling into place. Lots of great news, happy times, rainbows, butterflies, all that jazz.
In BIG BIG Southern Girl Gets Fit news, my foot is healing up, finally! I ran pain free yesterday, for the first time since December 29th. I ran a few times here and there in between, but my foot was not ready. I finally feel like it’s good to go but I’m still taking it easy. I ran three miles, very slowly, just to be sure. The craziest thing happened, too. I got this surge of energy and pride that I’ve never felt before. Even though it was my slowest miles ever, I felt like I was a runner. I think it’s maybe due to the fact that being on “rest” from running for so long really killed me. Months ago, I wouldn’thave cared either way. In fact, I would’ve been glad I didn’t have to run. But now, I am so glad to be back. I won’t have time to build up to 13 miles come race day, but I’ll run a lot more than I imagined I would. For the 3 of you those of you who are country fans, this song really pushed me last night. The lyrics can be applied to anything, plus, Luke Bryan looks really good in jeans.

The Only Way I Know-Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church

Chorus:
That’s the only way I know
Don’t stop till everything’s gone
Straight ahead, never turn round
Don’t back up, don’t back down
Full throttle, wide open
You get tired, but you don’t show it
Dig a little deeper when you think you can’t dig no more
That’s the only way I know

Pre-run, so excited!

After my run, my husband got home and got dressed for the gym. He’s been meeting up with a friend in the evenings to work out. I asked him what time we were leaving and he said “Wait, you just ran right? And you’re coming to the gym too?” Well duh. I think he forgets about that red bikini I think I’m wearing this summer. Silly man. I ate three Shot Blocks so I wouldn’t crash and burn and we were on our way. We got in a great biceps and chest workout and I have to admit, I felt a little legit working out with the boys. In between sets, I did squats (Every single time) and boy am I feeling it today. Who wears short shorts?

Any of you girls wear lifting gloves? I am thinking of investing a pair (a girly, cute pair of course) and doing agiveaway on my blog. Anyone interested?

Tonight we’re doing tris and shoulders and tomorrow is legs. I plan to keep incorporating a few miles of running through out the week as long as I’m still pain free. I’m also stretching like it’s going out of style, so here’s to hoping I’ll be injury/pain free for a long long time!
And before I go, a little Tuesday motivation for you:

  19. What an awesome workout you did! I always wear gloves when I do strength training; it keeps my soft, girly hands from turning into hard, manly hands. I own two pairs actually haha and got them both from Target.
