Don't let the title of this post fool you, I'm not talking about food today. I know, I'm a tease. Today I’m talking about progress. I posted two pictures tonight (or last night since..yeah, you get the idea) on Instagram and got such great support. I also met an amazing woman through Instagram that I wanted to share with you guys. More on her shortly.
The picture on the left was taken October 2011. The picture on the right was taken two days before Christmas, 2012.
Same picture left, right picture was a few days ago. (That pose was to show off the first pair of shorts I've ever worn to the gym!) Am I where I want to be? No. Do I get discouraged? Yep. But seeing the comparison tells me two things. First, I will never be the person on the left again. I’ve spoken about this picture before. When I was that person, I didn’t think I was really that big. I thought those jeans made me looks skinny –hold in your laughter. I knew I wasn’t skinny, but I didn’t realize how big I had gotten. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, my friends.
The second thing these comparisons teach me is that while I have a long way to go on this journey, I have also come such a long way from where I’ve been. That makes me extremely proud, and motivates me even more. I can’t wait to compare these pictures to the ones I’ll take in a few months. And maybe even in some random red bikini…
Now, I’d like to introduce you all to this amazing lady, Elisha, over at Elisha Run Run Run. Check this girl’s progress out! I asked her if I could share her transformation on my blog and she gave me the a-okay.
We connected on Instagram, having both gotten an X-ray on our feet Monday. She is a runner too, and experiencing the same type of problems that I am. We started emailing one another then I checked out her blog and could not believe my eyes. What a motivation. I want that transformation! Like me, she never thought she was that big, and has a great husband who never made her feel any less beautiful. But luckily for her, she took a stand and did something about her health, not only for her kids and husband, but for herself as well. She is very new to the blogging world, but I know she has so much to offer all of us ladies who need a little push or a reminder that anything is possible. Go check her out and leave her some love!
I was also going to tell you all about my awesome experience last night-a sushi making class! That will have to wait, though, because the guy that owns the store where the class took place took tons of pictures for me to put on my blog, but they’re all on his phone! #bloggerproblems
It’ll have to wait till he posts them on their Facebook page. Until then, I will say that it was such a great experience that I will definitely be repeating. The theme of the class was “New Year's Resolution” so all the rolls were super healthy. I’m sure you can imagine what a relief that was to the girl who plans out her calories for the day by 9amJ
Awesome transformation! Both of you! It is great to see the progress. Sometimes I get so caught up in the right now... focusing on the imperfections that bother me... rather than how far I've come. Progress is Progress!!

I love Elisha! She is such an inspiration. You are too! I know what you mean about never being that girl in the picture again.
ReplyDeleteI really needed some motivation today. Was SO BORED with a 3 miler that I started to wonder the *why am I doing this again?* and the *is this really worth it?*. Answer: YES. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteYou transformation is amazing! And I can totally relate to being in denial. I never thought I was that big before, but then when I was watching biggest loser I noticed that 5 out or the 8 women weighed my same starting weight or smaller! And I agree with you in the confidence of knowing that I will never be that big again. Keep up the great work, you are inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteYou are a hottie! Way to go! I will be that girl with before and after pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so freaking proud of you, your determination is amazing! Love love love it! Second, uhhhhhh she looks amazeballs, so strong which is what I love :)
